Kings, pharaohs, generals, fuehrers, Moslem extremists, and more have tried to exterminate the Jews for millennia. The Bible predicts the persecution of both Jews and Christians in many Scriptural references, with an intensification in the “end-times.” The Arab world fans the flames of anti-Semitism, as well as much of Europe and even Canada.
It has become more obvious in America with the push for a Palestinian state. Many, though certainly not all, who are pushing in America for a Palestinian state, and particularly on U.S. campuses, have anti-Semitic sentiment.
Anti-Semitism, The Pipeline of Hatred
Sadly, we Jews are a people who have over our long history always been our own worst enemies. Give us a reason and a proper stage, and we will manage to encourage others to question our loyalty and willingness to associate the Jews with the historical role of the eternal betraying "Judas". Friedman's portrayal of American Jews who disagree with the White House as nothing more than Israeli mercenaries willing to sell their primary allegiance to America, is only going to create more open hatred of Jews and encourage anti-Semitism in American society. On the day that Friedman posted "Let's make a Deal", I viewed major websites to gauge responses by the American public to the poisonous atmosphere made possible by our own brethren. Below are only a few of the hundreds of similar responses:
I left Paris 28 years ago and decided to make America my home. Back then; the dream of being successful, respected and appreciated in the "Land of Opportunity" was a major reason why I left my "Old Europe" behind.
Having been raised by a Jewish father who survived WWII and a Jewish mother who escaped the Holocaust after seeing her dad taken by the Gestapo from her own home when she was 15, I was aware of my Jewish heritage. I can't say that I fully understood or even appreciated that heritage, yet I was often reminded that we were Jewish, a fact that I was told not to advertise in school, just to be safe.
France is reeling from a national tragedy on Monday following a horrific attack on an orthodox Jewish school in the southwestern city of Toulouse that left four people dead, among them a young rabbi and three children, and authorities in search of a motive and a killer.
