Now let me say that few have been harsher critics of the two-generation Assad dictatorship than I. As a Syrian-American myself, I have watched Bashar al-Assad and his father before him murder their own rebellious citizens. I’ve seen them turn away visitors to Syria based on their religious beliefs. I’ve seen them host various terrorist groups. I’ve seen them impose their will on neighboring Lebanon. I’ve seen them assassinate political opponents.

So, you might ask, “Farah, why are you opposed to the U.S. joining the campaign to topple Assad?”

That’s a very easy question to answer: The rebellion the U.S. is supporting will result in incomparably worse leadership than Assad.

What's America up to now? - August 29

What does America look like from a biblical perspective?

“When I look, I see America imploding, the Middle East absolutely on fire and I see the church in a state of apostasy,” Jan Markell, founder of Olive Tree Ministries told WND today.

And those subjects will be the focus of the coming “Understanding the Times 2012 Conference,” to be held in a Minneapolis suburb Oct. 5-6.

Many of the individuals scheduled to speak during the DNC week have extremely spurious backgrounds, including, astonishingly, support for Al Qaeda and for the U.S. State Department-designated terrorist organization, Hamas.

The celebrity Imam or “Grand Imam” slated for the event is Imam Siraj Wahhaj (pictured on the top far-left of the picture above).

Much has happened since Reps. Michele Bachmann, Louie Gohmert, Trent Franks, Lynn Westmoreland, and Tom Rooney fired off those five letters to various Inspectors General back on June 13th. Based on all that has transpired to this point, we thought it a worthy endeavor to chronicle the individuals / entities that have come out in support of Huma Abedin and against Bachmann. Once you look at the list – which we will attempt to keep updated – a profile of an Abedin supporter begins to emerge.

What began as a simple going-away party on Barracks Street in 1972 has evolved into one of New Orleans' premier yearly events: Southern Decadence. Held annually in the French Quarter over Labor Day weekend, this celebration of GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender) culture has begun attracting as many as 125,000-135,000 participants from all over the world in recent years.

In an ever-more-volatile Middle East, the prospect of a military confrontation between Israel and its neighbors is fast becoming a tangible possibility, the IDF’s intelligence chief warned on Monday.

“In the coming year, the State of Israel will come up against an unstable, increasingly Islamist region: a region that has been dealing with a series of crises — regional and internal — that increases the volatility of all of the players and that could lead, without prior warning, to conflagrations,” Military Intelligence Director Maj.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi said in his annual presentation to Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz and the IDF top brass.

Hundreds of evangelicals gathered in Tampa, Fla., on Sunday to highlight the importance of the November election due to President Barack Obama's "war on religion." The speakers at the Faith and Freedom Coalition rally included Mike Huckabee, Ralph Reed and Newt Gingrich.

Reed, founder of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, addressed a crowd of about 1,000 people at the Tampa Theatre Sunday afternoon, ahead of the Republican National Convention. He said conservatives were partly responsible for Obama's victory in the 2008 election when 17 million evangelical Christians chose not to vote.

President Obama's casting of Mitt Romney as extreme is one of the most glaring incidents of political projection in the modern era. Romney doesn't approach extremism in substance, style or disposition. Obama swims in it.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Obama said Romney has locked himself into "extreme positions" on economic and social issues and would implement them if in office.

Meet the Deciders - August 28

Yesterday afternoon, on the seventh floor of a nondescript glass office tower on the fringes of downtown Tampa, I sat in a dark room behind a two-way mirror and watched the one and only Frank Luntz put a focus group of 23 “swing voters” through the paces.

What I learned: Americans are worried.

Since President Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney both have positions that are “acceptable” on Israel, American Jews should vote Democrat in support of Obama’s domestic agenda, contends former New York City Mayor Ed Koch.

After previously criticizing the Obama administration’s approach toward Israel, Koch is now campaigning for Obama within the U.S. Jewish community.
