We are to “watch and pray” for the Lord’s return. We will help you do so by keeping our eyes on the “signs of the times” and reporting them to you. Jesus chastised the Pharisees for not knowing the signs of the times in His day. So He wants to us know the signs today, for they instill in us hope for the future and encourage us to evangelize the lost while there is still time.
Spiritual Deception
Jesus said on the Mount of Olives (Matt. 24) that deception would be the primary cultural sign of the last days. Even some of God’s “elect” might be deceived by false theologies. “Good would be called evil and evil good” (Isaiah 5:20). Men would substitute light for darkness and darkness for light. Apostasy would consume churches and denominations that were once solid.

New indictments hit crumbling ACORN – Washington Times – March 12
Leaders seeking new name to dupe public, funders
New election-fraud charges against employees of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) in Wisconsin are a helpful reminder that the scandal-prone, far-left liberal group remains as determined as ever to cause trouble come election time.
Exports nominee tied to 2 watch list firms – Washington Times – March 12
President Obama’s pick to oversee export controls at the Commerce Department is a trade lawyer whose recent clients include two companies on a government watch list and a shipping business that agreed to pay millions of dollars last year to resolve a federal probe into shipments to Iran, Sudan and Syria.
The most disturbing part of the ObamaCare debate is not about where Republicans and Democrats disagree, but where they agree.
Take this issue of those with pre-existing illnesses. Many Republicans actually support government action to prevent insurance companies from refusing to insure them. Ignoring the benefits of cost-lowering free market competition and the role of charity, many Republicans believe it acceptable to force an insurance company — in business to insure against unknown risks — to “insure” someone currently experiencing a known risk.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Deficient Cleaning Service – Malkin – March 12
“Maybe it will take a woman to clean up the House,” Nancy Pelosi boasted before the 2006 midterm elections. Looks like those XX chromosomes didn’t give her much advantage over the old cleaning crew. The swamp she was supposed to drain is overflowing. And fewer than four years after a sordid sexual predation scandal involving a creepy congressman rocked the Republican Party, a sordid sexual predation scandal involving a creepy congressman is now rocking the Democratic Party.
Heads Liberals Win, Tails We Lose – Limbaugh – March 12
The left habitually distorts and exaggerates to demonize and discredit its opponents but squeals like a stuck pig when conservatives use colorful language to call the left out. Unfortunately, some on the right encourage the left’s squealing.
As for the liberals, it’s hard to take them seriously when they register their indignation at, say, Sarah Palin for her “death panels” comment, other conservatives for describing Obama as a socialist or liberals as “liberals,” or, most recently, Liz Cheney for calling seven Justice Department appointees the “al-Qaida Seven.”
The march of the Red-Green brigades – WSJ – March 12
The Red-Green alliance is on the march. On Wednesday, the leftist-controlled European Parliament in Strasbourg passed a resolution endorsing the Goldstone Report. That report, it will be recalled, denies Israel’s right to self-defense by alleging that Israel’s actions to defend itself from illegal Palestinian aggression during the course of Operation Cast Lead were war crimes.
Ready for cross-dressing Army generals? – WND – March 12
Over 45 years ago, I was on the lecture circuit with Frank L. Kluckhohn. He had just finished writing a book entitled “The Naked Rise of Communism” (1962). Frank was an extraordinary gentleman whose career included being a correspondent for the New York Times, an adviser to the secretary of defense in the Truman administration (1948) and holding a position in John Foster Dulles’ State Department during the Eisenhower years. This is background material to an important point I want to make about our current policies regarding gays in the military.
I had a long visit a few days ago with a Republican congressman who assured me that even if the Republicans win back both the House and Senate in 2010, government spending will continue unabated. He agreed with me that, with few exceptions, Republicans lack the courage to vote against most spending bills.
But he also made another point that I thought was significant. While BHO and a handful of far-left congresspersons are driven by ideology and really do want to see the U.S. transformed into a socialist (and possibly a communist) state (apologies to Bill O’Reilly, who “doesn’t believe for a second that Barack Obama doesn’t have the best of intentions for his country”), most are simply ignorant.
Democrats Still Lack Votes to Pass Their Health Care Bill – March 12
Washington (AP) – Top Democrats say they are resolving disputes over President Barack Obama’s health overhaul plan, but they face decisions on subsidizing coverage and are still hunting votes to push the vast package through Congress.
House Democrats were meeting again Friday to discuss the still-evolving plan. Leaders are trying to soothe lawmakers worried about the price they might pay in November’s congressional elections for supporting it.
We’ve Landed in Alice’s Wonderland – American Spectator – March 12
It appears America has become that mad land Alice stumbled upon down the rabbit hole. There is so much about American society that no longer makes any sense. Up is down, black is white and right is wrong. We’ve witnessed the implementation of programs, policies and court opinions over the last several decades that defy commonsense and logic. And there appears to be no end in sight to the madness.
