One of the nation’s top legal teams regarding civil and religious rights has stepped into a dispute stemming from last weekend’s Arab Festival in Dearborn, Mich., where police are accused of enforcing Islamic law.

“Officers arrested four Christian missionaries and illegally confiscated their video cameras which were recording the events surrounding their arrests,” said a statement today from the Thomas More Law Center of Ann Arbor, Mich.

This legislation may be the most ominous attack on “free speech” and Christianity since the founding of our nation. Yet, the silence of the mainstream media is disturbing. It suggests that many of our most powerful leaders want these bills passed behind closed doors, freed from any public accountability. Even so, the public is awakening to the facts.

America is changing at breakneck speed and many of the changes are not helpful.  While Americans were eager for “change” it is doubtful they anticipated the loss of free speech.

So let me explain the unfair “Fairness Doctrine.”  My radio program, “Understanding the Times,” is in the target range.

The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) met last weekend in Memphis, and according to President Frank Wright, experienced an ominous shroud cast by the issue of the “Fairness Doctrine.”  They intend to fight this issue as much as that is possible.  However, they may not even be given the opportunity to fight it as they would wish.
