Another target of Obamacare: Americans? right to financial privacy.

Buried in the 1,017 pages of the House Democrats’ health-care bill is a little-noticed provision that for the first time could give the government access to the checking or credit-card information of every American. Under section 163, which is entitled “Administrative Simplification,” the bill sets new “standards” for electronic transactions between individuals and their health-care providers.

According to section 163, the standards will “enable the real-time (or near real-time) determination of an individual’s financial responsibility at the point of service.”  In addition, they will “enable electronic funds transfers, in order to allow automated reconciliation with related health care payment and remittance advice.”

Don’t be deceived! The twenty-year-old Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) has little to do with personal rights. It has everything to do with changing values and undermining the traditional family. Since it transfers parental authority to the state, Christian children are legally free to reject safe family guidelines. The state will back their choice!  As Hillary Clinton wrote back in the nineties, “It Takes a Village!”

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev illustrated his call for a supranational currency to replace the dollar by pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a “united future world currency.”

“Here it is,” Medvedev told reporters today in L’Aquila, Italy, after a summit of the Group of Eight nations. “You can see it and touch it.”

The coin, which bears the words “unity in diversity,” was minted in Belgium and presented to the heads of G-8 delegations, Medvedev said.

It could be the ultimate in political control – but it won’t be patented in Germany.

German media outlets reported last week that a Saudi inventor’s application to patent a “killer chip,” as the Swiss tabloids put it, had been denied.

The basic model would consist of a tiny GPS transceiver placed in a capsule and inserted under a person’s skin, so that authorities could track him easily.

Model B would have an extra function – a dose of cyanide to remotely kill the wearer without muss or fuss if authorities deemed he’d become a public threat.

I want you to think about what happened in recent days on the free-speech front.

• Michael Savage was officially barred from entering the United Kingdom because Home Secretary Jacqui Smith doesn’t like his opinions.
• Rush Limbaugh was labeled a “traitor” and “terrorist” by a “comedienne” at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner. She also called for him to be waterboarded and wished for his death by kidney failure ? all to the apparent amusement of Barack Obama.
• Through a mandate of Congress, radio stations across the country began seeking out community activists to monitor their programming, which is expected to have a chilling effect on content and result in at least some license renewal challenges because of controversial talk.

Five international treaties stand poised, ready for ratification by the new nearly filibuster-proof Senate, pushed by the new, nearly giddy administration. Each of these treaties surrenders a little more of our national sovereignty to an international body governed by a majority of nations that despise the United States.

Treaties are voluntary agreements among nations to prohibit certain actions or to accomplish certain objectives. They are typically not enforceable – at this time – except through economic sanctions or nasty tirades at the United Nations or through the international media. Since 1998, however, a new dimension has entered the world – the International Criminal Court. The ICC has not been ratified by the United States, but clearly could be added to the list of treaties that are ready for ratification.

According to an online Yahoo program, the Global Position System coordinates for the White House, probably one of the best-known publicly owned buildings in the world, are 38.898590 Latitude and -77.035971 Longitude. And since you know that, it’s no big deal for the White House to know the coordinates for your front door, is it?

Some people think it is, and are upset over an army of some 140,000 workers hired in part with a $700 million taxpayer-funded contract to collect GPS readings for every front door in the nation.

Our last president was ridiculed for claiming to have peered into Vladimir Putin’s eyes and gotten, in his words, a “sense of his soul.” Our current president wants to do something even more audacious: “to peer into your mind to get a sense of your thoughts.” And if he finds them insufficiently accepting of homosexuality, he may want to lock you up.

And he could get the chance. This week, the House of Representatives passed The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HR 1913), which adds gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability to the list of protected categories under federal hate crimes law. An identical hate crimes bill was introduced two years ago but was stopped by President Bush’s veto pen.  This year’s bill is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Obama.

The tone was set from Obama’s first public remarks in London on Wednesday, at a press conference with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, where the American President said he had come “to listen, not to lecture.” At a joint appearance with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Baden-Baden on Friday, a German reporter asked Obama about his “grand designs” for NATO. “I don’t come bearing grand designs,” Obama said, scrapping the leadership role the U.S. maintained through the Cold War. “I’m here to listen, to share ideas and to jointly, as one of many NATO allies, help shape our vision for the future.”
