“Palestine” is a fantasy-land. That is why we head this category “Palestine?” “Palestinians” are simply Arabs like Jordanians, Syrians, etc. In 2006, the “Palestinians” voted into power, as their leaders, the violent terror group known as Hamas. They ousted the slightly more moderate group Fatah, currently headed by Mahmoud Abbas. But how much more moderate is Fatah? Abbas earned his PhD with a paper on the fiction of the Holocaust. Neither side will recognize Israel’s existence, yet the Western world insists Israel make “peace” with both parties. “Palestine” and the “Palestinian” cause only came about in the mid 1960s when Yaser Arafat put the movement on the map.

Newt Gingrich has been taking heat for a statement he made about the “Palestinians” being an “invented” people.

“We have had an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs,” Gingrich said in an interview with The Jewish Channel, a cable-television network. “Remember, there was no Palestine as a state – (it was) part of the Ottoman Empire. I think we have an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs and historically part of the Arab community and they had the chance to go many places.”

Would Jesus support a Palestinian state?

The gist of Carl’s argument, and one I suspect is shared by many American evangelicals, is that Christians should discard the Bible, discard their eschatology and support a Palestinian state simply because it is the right thing to do. Carl warns against, “allowing obscure Old Testament promises to dictate our foreign policy.” Instead we should simply focus on, “love, compassion, justice and peace-making.”

The glaring problem with Carl’s argument is that it assumes that those “obscure Old Testament promises” are in conflict with the principles of “love, compassion and justice.” Carl could not be more wrong. Not only does Carl’s position require him to discard numerous very clear passages from the Bible (would Jesus reject these sections of the Bible?), but it also runs rough shod over the principles of love, justice and compassion.

Mainstream media admits ‘Palestine’ is not impoverished

How not to have a Palestinian state

The unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state, and its international recognition, would be a huge mistake.

A peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians is essential, but can be achieved only through honest negotiations – not by one party imposing a unilateral decision.

Over the past two years, the Palestinian Authority has refused to sit at the negotiating table with the Israeli government, hiding behind the excuse of construction work on a few West Bank settlements. At the same time, it has been negotiating the creation of a national unity government with Hamas – a terrorist group whose stated aim is the elimination of Israel. A Palestinian “government” of a unilaterally established, self-declared “Palestinian state” in which Hamas is a member will make negotiations, to say nothing of a peace agreement, impossible.

There is a propaganda war going on now with regard to the term “Palestine.” At one time it might have been argued that Palestine was an innocuous designation of the Middle Eastern area, that is generally thought of as the Holy Land. During the last few decades, however, the term Palestine has been adopted by Arabs living in Israel in the area west of the Jordan River. It is specifically employed to avoid the use of the name Israel, and must be considered an anti-Israel term. In all Arab maps published in Jordan, Egypt, etc., the area west of the Jordan River is called Palestine, without any reference to Israel. Palestine is the term now used by those who want to deny the legitimate existence of Israel as a genuine nation among the family of nations.
